The Street as a Distance
Between February 2025 and March 2026, these images were captured during urban walks . They observe the city as a space of passage, where presences intersect without meeting. The street emerges as distance — a quiet interval between bodies, gestures, and gazes.
The city unfolds as a place to move through, never fully inhabited.
People pass, but rarely arrive; gestures surface, then fade before they settle.
Distance here is not a matter of space.
It lingers within proximity —
as if each figure carried a quiet drift,
a subtle disconnection from the world around them.
These images are not drawn to decisive moments,
but to what slips through them:
missed encounters,
time dissolving,
presence receding even as it is seen.
The street becomes, not a place of meeting,
but of suspension.
A cidade abre-se como um lugar atravessado, nunca plenamente habitado.
Os corpos passam, mas não chegam; os gestos insinuam-se e desfazem-se antes de se cumprirem.
Há uma distância que não depende do espaço,
uma distância que persiste mesmo na proximidade —
como se cada figura carregasse consigo um desvio,
um pequeno afastamento do mundo.
Estas imagens não procuram o instante decisivo,
mas aquilo que nele falha:
o encontro que não acontece,
o tempo que escapa,
a presença que se retira enquanto ainda é vista.
A rua, então, não é lugar de encontro,
